Tamil actor-director Jeeva Mariamuthu, who was recently seen in Rajinikanth-starrer 'Jailer,' passed away on Friday. He was around fifty-seven years old.

Film industry insider Ramesh Bala confirmed this news on Friday, stating that Jeeva Mariamuthu was 57 years old. He was known for his role in the Tamil television series 'Ethirneechal.' He also worked as an assistant director with notable figures, including filmmaker Mani Ratnam.

Jeeva Mariamuthu was Taken to the Hospital

Jeeva Mariamuthu reportedly collapsed around 8:30 AM on Friday while dubbing for his Tamil television series 'Ethirneechal' in Chennai. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to chest pain.

Who was Jeeva Mariamuthu?

According to a report by One India, Jeeva Mariamuthu had worked in more than 50 films besides his contributions to direction and acting in TV shows. In 1990, he left his hometown of Theni and moved to Chennai to pursue his dream of becoming a film director.

Initially, he worked as a waiter in hotels, but he soon met lyricist Vairamuthu, which eventually led to assistant director roles in films like 'Aranmanai Kili' (1993) and 'Ellaame En Rasathan' (1995). Mariamuthu continued his career as an assistant director, collaborating with renowned film producers like Mani Ratnam, Vasanth, Seeman, and SJ Surya. He also worked as a co-director in 'Silambattam' starring Silambarasan.
